Northern Tuli Block, Makgadikgadi Pans & Okavango Wilderness
The Okavango Delta and Makgadikgadi Pans are 2 areas of the Kalahari so different from each other that they may seem to be on separate planets. One lush and wet, the other arid, they provide a dramatic combination for this Salt Pans and Delta Safari Package. However, Tuli Block is home to Elephant, lion, Giraffe and the kori bastard to name a few, as well as the Baobab Tree, a range of species that aptly demonstrate why this area is called the Land of the Giants.
Activities range from quad biking on the barren surface of the world's largest salt pans to cruising in a dugout canoe on the waterways of the world's largest inland delta. The wildlife of the areas is different in many respects, showing behaviour traits for the respective environments.
This Botswana holiday package can be said to provide the ultimate contrasting African safari with the perfect combination of wet and dry. You will come away with a wonderful appreciation of this unique region.

On your return, dinner is served along the log fire in the atmospheric boma.

Activities during your safari stay range from early and evening game drives as well as a cultural Tour. You will enjoy delightful home- made treats and a celebration of traditional African Cuisine.
Day 4: Northern Tuli Block(Mashatu Game Reserve) - Maun - Makgadikgadi Pans
After morning game viewing experience you will catch a light aircraft flight from Mashatu Airstrip to Maun. Upon arrival in Maun from Northern Tuli Block, you will be transferred in a light aircraft to your camp in the Kalahari on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans. You will be met and taken to the bush camp where you will be spending the first 2 nights of your safari. A remnant of an ancient inland lake, the sheer vastness of the Makgadikgadi will enthral you as will the knowledge of your guides who know the area intimately.
Day 5: Makgadikgadi Pans
An early wake up ensures that you spend as much time exploring the area as possible. Game drives, horse safari, bush walks and quad biking activities showcase the unique animals and plants in this fascinating part of the Kalahari, and with a Bushman guide, the experience is enhanced even more. There may be the opportunity to spend time with an habituated but wild colony of Meerkats, and share their lives as they go about the day looking for food and keeping an eye out for danger. Depending on the season you may also see part of the largest land animal migration in Southern Africa, where 30 000 Zebra move through the area with the rainy season.
Day 6: Makgadikgadi Pans – Okavango Delta
There will be time for an activity before the flight to your bush camp in a private concession within the beautiful Okavango Delta, where you will spend the next 2 nights of your safari. The Okavango is a river that disappears into the sands of the Kalahari, forming a paradise of channels and floodplains. The following 2 days will be spent learning about this unique ecosystem.
Day 7: Okavango Delta
The days in the Okavango will be spent exploring the channels, islands and floodplains of this incredible wilderness and depending on the season, the activities will include game drives, boat excursions, mokoro rides and walks. All activities will be led by an experienced and knowledgeable guide who will share his passion with you. The seasons of the Okavango are as interesting as the Eden-like environment itself with the water levels peaking at the height of the dry season. This is due to most of the water in the system coming down from the highlands of Angola, thousands of kilometres away. Nights in the Delta are special with an array of sounds to lull you to sleep.
Day 8: Okavango - Maun - Johannesburg
This is the final day of your Pans and Delta Wilderness Safari. There will be time for a last activity to experience this amazing system before brunch. You will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight back to Maun and the onward connection to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport, after what can only be described as a truly memorable Kalahari safari.
