Overview

Elephant Adventure Mobile Camping Safari Experience This Elephant Adventure Safari Package takes in the highlights of Botswana's enchanting wilderness and adds the incredibly beautiful Caprivi Strip in Namibia. This African mobile camping safari on the Chobe-Caprivi-Okavango Circuit will live long in the memory. There are no luxury frills but the safari is comfortable and well serviced by experienced staff. Travelling overland adds an extra dimension to a safari as you get to experience the country from the perspective of the people who live there. Game drives, boat cruises and mokoro trips (traditional dugout canoe rides with a guide) allow you to appreciate why this pristine wilderness is so in demand by African travel connoisseurs. Despite this, Botswana tourism carefully maintains low numbers to preserve your experience.

Day 1: Johannesburg - Livingstone

After your arrival at Livingstone Airport in Zambia from Johannesburg you will be transferred to your game lodge for an overnight. The afternoon is your own time to explore the town or visit the mighty Victoria Falls.

Day 2:Kasane - Chobe

Today you head for Botswana, crossing the border via a ferry over the Zambezi, and arrive at a bush camp in Kasane. Your mobile safari in Botswana will start here where you will be met by your guide and transferred to your bush camp in the Chobe region. You will get a full briefing before heading out on an exciting boat cruise on the Chobe River. You will enjoy sunset on the river before heading back to camp for a dinner prepared over the open fire.

Day 3:

Kasane - Susuwe West Caprivi An early start will see you heading to the Namibian border via Chobe National Park. Crossing the border you will drive to Susuwe National Park in the west Caprivi where you will set up camp before heading out on an afternoon drive to explore this fascinating and beautiful area.

Day 4:

Susuwe - Popa Falls Today you will wake early and head west to the Okavango River where it plunges over the Popa Falls. The camp site overlooks the falls and you will have the afternoon to visit the rapids. Like many places in the Caprivi Strip this area is incredibly beautiful and has abundant birdlife.

Day 5:

Popa Falls - Tsodilo Hills A very early start will allow you time to visit the stunning Mahango National Park, before re-entering Botswana and heading to Tsodilo Hills where you will stay overnight. Tsodilo Hills is the only World Heritage site in Botswana and is considered one of the most important cultural sites in Southern Africa. You will spend the afternoon exploring the area on foot before dinner around the camp fire.

Days 6-7: Tsodilo Hills

Okavango Delta Starting out early today you will head for the Okavango Delta, meeting up with motor boats that will transfer your equipment via the channels and floodplains before meeting up with your polers with their mekoros, who will then take you further into the delta for your next 2 nights. You will camp on an island in this wetland paradise exploring the area on mokoro rides and walks.

Day 8:

Okavango Delta - Maun Today you will have the choice of taking an optional flight over the Delta back to Maun or you may decide to drive back with the guide. If you decide on the flight option you will spend a leisurely time in the camp while you wait for your flight. The flight is highly recommended as it gives you a unique perspective of this fascinating wilderness area. You will overnight in Maun after stocking up on supplies.

Days 9-11:Maun - Moremi Game Reserve

From Maun you will head out into the Moremi Game Reserve, one of Africa's most beautiful and diverse parks, where you will spend the next 3 nights. Your days in Moremi will be spent exploring the floodplains and woodlands of this incredible area. Early morning and afternoon game drives will allow you to view many species of animals and birds.

Days 12-14:

Moremi - Chobe National Park Your next 3 nights are spent in the Chobe National Park, dividing your time between Savute and Chobe River exploring the great diversity in landscapes and wildlife. Here is a place where Elephants roam in great numbers and water is the lifeblood of the seasons. Game drives will allow you to get up close and personal to a host of wildlife.

Days 15:Chobe River - Livingstone

After a morning game drive you will cross the Zambezi River by ferry into Zambia and head to the Victoria Falls where you will stay for one overnight in comfortable chalets. From here you can experience much of what makes this the adventure capital of Africa with all its adrenaline pumping activities so exciting - or you may just want to walk around the falls themselves.
