This 11 day Tuli, Central Kalahari, Okavango Delta and Linyanti Safari Package strictly require Experienced Riders is a unique opportunity to discover the nature and wildlife of Northern Tuli on a mobile horseback safari. This safari package stretches from Tuli Block up to the Delta, and includes early morning transfers by road through the Limpopo Region of South Africa.
Accommodation: Comfortable permanent tented satellite campsites; sleeping “under the stars” in a traditional enclosure; big A-Frame walk-in tents with en-suite facilities, enviro loo and hot water shower, thatched en suites on raised decks for magnificent views.

On this 4 day Tuli on Horseback Safari Experience, you will spend a satisfying 6 to 7 hours in the saddle on most days, discovering the wonders of the Northern Tuli Block with its abundance of game and magnificent scenery. You'll stay in various wilderness camps and also spend 2 nights sleeping under the stars in the Kgotla, an old tribal court.
Each horse has been carefully chosen for its temperament and ability to be ridden with ease. The horses are schooled to a high level and are equipped with comfortable English saddles, saddlebags and water bottles. A few Australian stock saddles are available for those who prefer them.
Tuli, known as The Land of Giants is an awe inspiring destination with a spectacular landscape and wildlife such as Elephant, Lion, Cheetah Wild dog and even Leopard. You'll cover about 193km (120 miles) during the course of your Botswana safari, ending most days in a well-appointed walk-in tent with beds, cosy duvets and a hot shower. Enjoy sundowners and fine dining in the wilderness on your African horseback safari.
This tour also offers an opportunity to experience as guest different sides of Botswana from the ragged beauty of Central Kalahari to the wetlands of the Okavango Delta and Linyanti areas. This area of the Delta has many predators and some of the highest concentrations of the Elephant and zebra.
Experience the serenity of the Kalahari where you will be guided by Bushmen and learn about their Ancient Culture. See the contrast with the wetlands of the Okavango. Set out on guided game drives in search of wild dogs on tranquil mokoro rides to explore the Delta lagoons.
Explore the Delta by boat and see the regions wonderful birdlife or try fishing for Tiger Fish.
Day 1: Johannesburg - Pont Drift - Tuli Block ( Limpopo Horse Safari, Botswana)
Your Botswana holiday begins! There will be an early start today in Johannesburg. You will meet your driver who will take you by road through the Limpopo Province of South Africa to the Pont Drift Border Post of Botswana. This journey takes about 5 hours and 30 minutes. Upon arrival at the border you will be met by your guide and transferred to the first bush camp.
You will have time for a light lunch, before heading off to the stables to meet your horse. To make sure that you and your horse are well suited, a short introductory ride will be arranged. Enjoy a sundowner at the Stable Bar while the sun sets and the horses roll and frolic. Then, it's back to camp for a hot shower and a delicious dinner served in the Ilala Palm dining room.
Day 2:Northern Tuli Block(Limpopo Horse Safari)
There will be a wake-up call at sunrise with tea or coffee brought to your tent, followed by a light breakfast. It's time to mount up and set off in a northwesterly direction for your next bush camp on the banks of the Jwala River. Enjoy a day in the saddle, game viewing and exploring this stunning land of history and legend.
After arriving at the bush camp, lunch will be served, followed by a guided afternoon walk. This is a great opportunity to examine your environment in detail. Dinner is prepared over an open fire - enjoy the renowned bush cuisine before retiring to your spacious tent, where the sounds of the wilderness will lull you to sleep.
Day 3: Northern Tuli Block(Limpopo Horse Safari)
Your early morning wake-up call heralds a new day. Tea, coffee and a tasty light breakfast are served around the log fire. Today, you and your sure-footed steed will cross over basalt ridges following ancient Elephant trails. Later, enjoy lengthy canters to make up for time lost while traversing the ridges. You will be in the saddle for about 6 or 7 hours and arrive at your next bush camp in time for a late lunch.
You will spend 2 nights sleeping around a log fire, "under the stars" in the Kgotla, an old African tribal court. This is a traditional open-air enclosure (boma) made of lead-wood logs set up in the shade of a century old Mashatu tree. In the afternoon, there is the option to visit a local village where you can purchase hand-crafted Ilala Palm curios, view Bushman paintings and enjoy a sundowner overlooking the Motloutse River.
Day 4: Tuli Block(Limpopo Horse Safari)
This morning you set off on a full day exploration of the sandstone formations in this area including the famed Solomon's Wall. Ancient civilizations stored their wealth among these hills which are located at the confluence of 2 mighty rivers, the Limpopo and the Motloutse.
Today you will be riding for 4 to 5 hours, leaving time in the afternoon for a visit to the archaeologically rich Mmamagwa Hills. This setting offers 360 degree views of the reserve and a perfect spot to watch another spectacular African sunset. Back at the bush camp, dinner is served around a large crackling fire. Enjoy the starry night skies and savour the unique atmosphere of the tribal court. You'll drift off to sleep listening to the sounds of the African bush.
Day 5: Northern Tuli Block(Limpopo Horse Safari-Maun-Central Kalahari
After early morning ride and breakfast you will catch a light flight to Maun in Botswana, where you will complete immigration. Then catch a light air craft from Maun to the Tau Pan Airstrip in the Central Kalahari. The flight arrives in time for lunch and you will have time to settle in before going on a game drive to explore the surrounding area. See the amazing desert wildlife such as Gemsbok, Springbok and Kalahari Lions, which have adapted to life in this harsh environment, stop off in a scenic spot for refreshing sundowners before returning to the lodge for a sumptuous dinner under the stars.
Day 6: Central Kalahari
In the morning, there will be an early wake-up call, followed by breakfast before heading out on your morning game viewing activity. This may be a game drive or a walk with a local Bushman who will tell you about their Ancient culture and show you how they have survived in this harsh environment for thousands of years. In the evening learn about the stars and their mythology associated with the heavens.
Day 7: Central Kalahari-Okavango Delta
After one last game drive in the Central Kalahari, have a delicious breakfast before catching a light air craft to the Okavango Delta.You will arrive in time for a late lunch and explore camp. Set out to explore the scenic reed fringed waterways in a traditional long boat called a mokoro. Shipping silently through the waterways you will see amazing birdlife and animals such as Lechwe and Wildebeest.
Day 8: Okavango Delta
In the morning explore the deeper into the Delta by a motorboat or learn about the ecology of the region while on island walk, a great way to see the islands birdlife. These activities are conducted in an open safari vehicle and are led by experienced guides. In the afternoon head out on a game drive to see the regions abundant wildlife such as Lions, Reedbuck, and predators such as cheetah and if you are lucky a glimpse of the endangered Wild Dogs. These game drives may extend into evening after sundowners so that you can see nocturnal animals.
Day 9 & 10: Okavango- Linyanti
Enjoy one last game drive or a boat cruise to see which animals are active before a sumptuous breakfast. Then catch a light air craft to Linyanti area on the edge of the Delta. After settling into the camp there will be a game viewing activity either a game drive or a boat cruise excursion. The next 2 days will be spent exploring the area in the company of an experienced guide. In this region of the Delta one can see Giraffe, Kudu, Elephants and Buffalo. During the Winter months larger herds of Elephants and Zebra pass through. You will also go on boating trips and see the fantastic birdlife, hippos and crocodiles.
There will be time for one last game viewing activity before breakfast before you catch a light aircraft to Kasane. From there you will catch an international flight back to Johannesburg O.R Tambo International Airport.

This 11 day Tuli on Horseback Safari, Central Kalahari, Okavango Delta and Linyanti Safari package includes the road transfers ex/to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport, scheduled flight from Kasane to Johannesburg and transfers in between camps. The meeting point is at 08h00 in the morning at Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport.. The Tuli Block horse- back Safari package is only designed for experienced riders, with a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 guests needed to run this mobile horseback safari tour. Non-riders are also welcome and can enjoy game drives, walks and cycling. The entire safari package however is based on one person sharing a room for 10 days and includes scheduled flights ex/to Johannesburg on a daily basis and the light aircraft transfers between the camps.
This package can be offered from April to October. In the case of horse-back riding, No children under 16 years are permitted on this mobile horseback safari. There is an option to tailor the safari to a 4 or 5 day package. Rates may vary depending on the season and daily currency exchange rate.
